This is the Privacy Policy of The White Coat Investor and its managers, members, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, coaches, and representatives (collectively “WCI”). Our “Website” (whitecoatinvestor.com) is owned and operated by WCI and is made available for the sole purpose of facilitating financial literacy and education for users who choose to use the Website.

  1. REVIEW AND CONFIRMATION OF PRIVACY POLICY

Before you use WCI services, you should carefully review this Privacy Policy and related Terms of Use. Only submit personal information and use WCI services if you accept this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. WCI collects information about users of the Website in two general ways: directly from you when you enroll in a course, subscribe to a newsletter, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources available through the Website; and from your device to our Website through server logs and other technologies. WCI uses the information collected primarily to deliver information, resources and services that are most relevant and helpful to you.

When you visit the Website, WCI may collect certain information automatically from your device like pixel-tags, cookies, and other tracking tools that will recognize data which may include your IP address, device type, unique device identification numbers, browser-type, and other technical information. WCI may also collect information about how your device has interacted with our Website which helps WCI analyze users’ practices and preferences.

WCI may collect and use users’ personal identification information for the following purposes: (i) to improve customer service by using user information to respond to customer service requests and support needs more efficiently, (ii) to personalize user experiences by using information in the aggregate to understand how WCI users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Website, and (iii) to send period emails by using user email addresses, provided by users, to send information and updates pertaining to orders, and to respond to inquiries, questions or other requests.

The Website includes features such as message boards, blogs, social networks and comment boards that facilitate the submission and publication by its users of content such as comments, questions, ideas, suggestions, photos, videos and links (“User-Generated Content”).  In addition to the other policies contained herein, the following policies apply to User-Generated Content:

User-Generated Content that WCI determines, in its sole discretion, to be offensive, inappropriate or not otherwise keeping with the spirit of the Website, such as spam, advertising, off-topic content, content containing vulgar or offensive language, and content that may violate the rights of others may be removed. We also reserve the right to block users for violation of WCI policies.

  1. Use Authorization

By submitting or uploading User-Generated Content on our Website, you are authorizing WCI to use, publish, and otherwise reproduce, modify and distribute such User-Generated Content with or without the User’s name or the name of your minor children in perpetuity, worldwide in any and all WCI-related media for any lawful purpose. Such use may include, without limitation, information, education, promotion or advertising of WCI or its products or services via the internet, web sites, mobile apps, and social media. Users are not authorized to upload or post any photos or videos of individuals other than the user without the permission of such other individuals (or their parent’s or legal guardian’s permission if a minor).  By submitting any User-Generated Content, you represent and warrant that you own such User-Generated Content and that its submission to and publication on the Website will not violate any rights of third parties or otherwise violate applicable law.

  1. Treatment of User-Generated Content

All User-Generated Content will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.  Any submitted User-Generated Content becomes the property of WCI without compensation to the user.  WCI may reproduce such User-Generated Content freely and for any purpose.  Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, WCI may use any ideas, artwork, inventions, developments, or concepts embodied or contained in any User-Generated Content.

  1. CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

WCI may revise, modify or amend the information contained in the Privacy Policy or other Terms of Use at any time. Any such revision, modification or amendment shall be effective immediately upon either posting it to this Website or otherwise notifying you.  By continuing to access or use the Website after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

  1. LINKING TO OTHER SITES

From time to time we will provide links to other websites, not owned or controlled by WCI. We do this because we think this information might be of interest or use to you or where, as a user, we can provide you with value-added services. While we do our best to ensure your privacy, we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. A link to a non-WCI website does not constitute or imply endorsement by WCI. Additionally, we cannot guarantee the quality or accuracy of information presented on non-WCI websites. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any website you visit.

  1. WITH WHOM WCI MAY SHARE INFORMATION

WCI does not share or sell personal information about users with unaffiliated third parties. We may share personal information with the following entities:

  1. Contracted service providers (for example, printing and mailing companies, marketing and/or advertising service providers, data processing services, IT providers, payment processors, and other entities who are contracted to provide services or at WCI’s direction);

WCI uses appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information that we collect and process through the Website. The measures WCI uses are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal information. Where WCI shares data with third parties pursuant to contracts with those parties. The security of your personal information provided to such third parties is the responsibility of such third-parties.  WCI cannot guarantee that such data will be kept secure by such third parties and you are encouraged to consult the data security policies of those third-parties.

WCI retains personal information collected from you when there is an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested, WCI marketing strategies, etc.).

When WCI has no ongoing legitimate business need to possess your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then WCI will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

WCI tracks users over time and across third party websites (such as Google and Facebook) to provide targeted advertising.  WCI does not provide to third parties (other than specified herein) and third parties cannot collect any personal information from WCIs Website.

  2. If WCI has collected and possesses your personal information with your consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any collection or use prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect your personal information used in reliance on lawful grounds other than consent.

WCI will respond to all requests received from users wishing to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
