One of the most important missions of The White Coat Investor is to boost financial literacy among physicians, dentists, trainees, and students. However, some people can only be reached face to face, one at a time. That’s why we need people out in the field who are willing to teach their colleagues and trainees in person. That’s where you can help.
Every year, we honor a physician who goes above and beyond to help spread financial literacy. Winners receive $1,000 and a feature on the WCI blog, highlighting their achievements and impact. As an incentive to put together a nice submission, the nominator who writes the best nomination of the winner will get a free WCI online course of their choice. It’s our way of recognizing a physician who has made outstanding contributions to advancing financial literacy.
Our goal is to celebrate the efforts of dedicated financial educators and to encourage our community to share what they have learned with others.
In 2019, we started the Financial Educator of the Year award to honor those attending-level physicians and dentists who are boosting financial literacy among their colleagues, trainees, and students. Here are all the past winners.
The selection committee consists of the WCI staff. Yes, we're completely biased in favor of those who are dedicated to teaching personal finance and investing to doctors without regard to specialty, gender, race, religion, nationality, skin color, or sexual orientation. Don't even tell us about any of that stuff in your nomination because we don't care. We want to hear about what your nominee did to help doctors become financially literate. If you are nominated independently by multiple persons, that nomination will carry additional weight.
Want to help spread financial literacy? We try to make it a bit easier by providing these presentations.

Even if we can’t often make the personal one-on-one connections that all the Financial Educator of the Year award winners and nominees can with their colleagues and trainees, WCI still has plenty of information for those who are learning—and for those who are teaching. Thank you for what you do to spread financial literacy. We truly believe that a financially secure doctor is a better partner, parent, and practitioner.
