Erik Hofmeister is a professor of veterinary anesthesia, formerly practicing in Alabama and currently practicing in New Zealand. He and his wife were oblivious about money but frugal, accumulating more in their savings account without any idea of what to do with it before encountering Mr. Money Mustache and then WCI. He has since become a personal finance aficionado, presenting at national conferences and teaching personal finance and retirement planning to students, house officers, and other faculty. He has no children, and though he originally planned to retire in 2025 while in his 40s, he has moved abroad and continued to work.
