Larry Keller, an insurance agent who frequents the blog, and I co-wrote an article recently in the American Academy of Dermatology publication aimed at residents and fellows. It is in no way dermatology-specific, and discusses the importance of having adequate life, disability and liability insurance as well as using a Roth IRA and your 401K during residency. Regular readers of the blog won't find a lot of new material there, but you might want to take a perusal anyway! Here's the link.
Shame it didnt get a little wider audience since im sure graduates can use the info. I remember during my residency that most of these issues were discussed by my program director at several conferences. Several residents thought it was weird for such a topic during residency. I really didnt know what to think at the time but now i realize he really was trying to help.
How the heck did you get that into my field by not yours?
Larry found the opportunity and included me. It’s good business for him and good publicity for the blog.
Nice post. It serves as a good review for those of us still in residency. Thanks!
