Many readers may not be aware that this year The White Coat Investor, LLC, will provide a scholarship to a professional student. The amount of this scholarship is over $11,000 and growing. The purpose of the scholarship is primarily to directly reduce the indebtedness of the scholarship winner, but also secondarily to help spread the message of the importance of financial literacy among doctors and other professionals. It is also a great way for the WCI community (writers, readers, advertisers etc) to say thank you to all those who are contributing to our success. Many of our advertisers have contributed $500 or more as “Gold Level” contributors, including the following:

Dozens of readers have also contributed. There is still time to contribute and if you feel like something you have read here has really helped you out financially, then why not toss $10 into the pot as a way of paying it forward.
The deadline for submitting an application is September 10th. When we started this thing, we had no idea how many we would get. We hoped we could get at least five, but didn't really want to read more than 100. We've had about 50 applications come in, so there is still room for yours. We'll select the best five and run them on the blog the last week of September. A panel of ten judges (to be selected shortly from readers who have volunteered) will select the winner at the end of the week, who will then get a big fat check from me.
Encourage your peers to apply for the scholarship or to contribute to it in the comments section!
Is it too late to submit essay? I think there are already 100 submissions so I’m not sure if its technically closed for new entries.
Yes, it’s closed. Sorry. I’m only reading 100. Applicants had 6 months notice and we only hit 100 this last week. The price of procrastination.
