Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer


The White Coat Investor, LLC, founded in 2011, is a privately-held, family-owned, small, but rapidly-growing and profitable multi-media company. Its mission is to increase financial literacy and discipline among high-income professionals, particularly doctors, while connecting them with best-in-class providers of financial services. It is widely-respected and the dominant company within its niche, serving hundreds of thousands every month and generating millions in revenue each year.

The Chief Operating Officer is a new, full-time, highly-compensated, leadership position within the company that will be empowered and tasked with leading the company to the next level while maintaining fidelity to its mission. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the company including strategic planning, analyzing and improving the effectiveness of business strategies, supervising staff and handling personnel issues, and negotiation of partner contracts. Duties and responsibilities

  • Analyzes and improves current business strategies
  • Develops and implements growth strategies
  • Runs the day-to-day business operations
  • Approves new advertisers
  • Sets advertising and product prices
  • Negotiates new and ongoing affiliate relationships
  • Advises content-producing staff on needs
  • Hires and supervises sales, marketing, human resources, financial, legal, and technology contractors and staff


The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated, self-start possessing :

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (preference given to business-related degree such as MBA)
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual manner with little supervision

Other desirable characteristics include:

  • Experience with business ownership
  • Experience owning, managing, growing, and/or selling multi-million dollar online businesses
  • Experience with contract negotiation, both internal and external
  • Lives, is willing to relocate to, or willing to travel frequently to company headquarters (Salt Lake City, UT)
  • Willingness to travel to other locations several times a year
  • Knowledge of the basics of personal finance and investing as applied to high-income professionals
  • Experience managing live physician Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences
  • Experience developing and selling prepackaged software courses to institutions of higher education
  • Extensive network of software and other technical experts
  • Experience developing software or managing developers
  • Knowledge of WordPress, our primary software platform
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques and practices
  • Experience with blog and/or online forum management
  • Writing/editing experience

Working conditions

The chief operating officer will primarily work from their own home but will also be required to be present frequently at company headquarters. A large percentage of the work can be accomplished at a time and place of his or her choosing. While highly-flexible, rapid responsiveness to business needs, including on evenings and weekends, may be required at times. Occasional out of state travel will also be required.
