Should I bring kids 10/6? 3 days Vegas for conference then maybe Grand Canyon?

Anyone else bringing kids or have tips or warnings?

    How old are the kids?

Our family (kids 17 and 20) was in Vegas over winter break, mostly as a jumping off point for Zion and Snow Canyon State Park. We were there two days, had some great meals, saw a show, and did yoga with dolphins. By the 36 hour mark, I was ready to leave.

There are things to do in Vegas for all ages, but it does tend to skew toward an older crowd. I am personally not a big fan and would only travel there for a meeting (like WCICON) or as a portal to the parks out west.

My husband has a conference in Vegas every year and we have taken our kids every time ( ages have ranged from baby to 11). 2-3 days is perfect. You can go to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, watch the Bellagio foundations, stop at the Hershey store, wander around the forum shops and get gelato, ride the gondolas, go to a magic show or see mystere . . . There’s quite a bit to do with kids. We always go in may and stay at Mandalay Bay because they have the best pool, but that probably won’t matter in march since most pools probably aren’t open then? If you are all sharing a room, I think Palazzo rooms are best since the regular room is huge.

Paris is centrally located so quite a lot of options.  At 6 and 10 yo, that’s young for Paris; but the fountains are literally right across the way.  Since in March, can spend all day outside watching those fountains alone.

    Per tripadvisor

Bellagio has a heated outdoor pool

Cesaers Palace has a heated outdoor pool

Bally’s has a swimming pool, heated to about 80 degrees

Flamingo Las Vegas has one heated pool out of the five pools.

    Palazzo has heated outdoor pools

Excalibur Hotel has a heated outdoor pool

MGM Grand Hotel has at least one heated pool always open.

The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons and Mandalay Bay guests can access:

At least one heated pool is open at Mandalay Bay. Sand and surf closes for the winter.

The Signature at MGM Grand has a heated outdoor pool

Paris Las Vegas heated outdoor pool

Red Rock Casino has a heated pool

Platinum Casino Hotel, off the strip, has an indoor pool

Rio Hotel and Casino Pool has one heated outdoor pool

The Palms has heated outdoor pools

    Encore has heated outdoor pool

We’ve stayed at the MGM Signature towers (condos) and they are great priced and location=—and access to MGM pools along with their own pools.  If you have AMEX Platinum card use FHR, that is great way to hotel jump for those who don’t mind doing that with great benefits.

Just Outside Vegas – Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.

Further out for 2-3 day extensions:  Zion and GC.  GC northern rim is great add-on to Zion too and rarely accessed by many. — March will be pretty cold though for both.

Ages 10/6. We’d go for 2 rooms near conference.

Boys like playing with other kids, fountain/aquarium/magic show would be good.

Then a few days in some park in March? 3-5 mile hikes are good. Which park?

all of this above.  we’ve been to aquarium several times. red rock canyon for hiking and/or scenic drive.  valley of fire (my kid’s favorite state park) and spring mountain state parks for short/long hikes.  rent a boat on Lake Mead.  probably open for skiing on mt charleston (if you don’t have high ski standards).  feed the ducks and mellow walk at Floyd Lamb. laps on the monorail.  shopping in summerlin.  imax theaters. a little history at Old Las Vegas state historic park.  the national parks if you wanna drive further.  hoover dam just because.  horseback riding in the desert

LV is absolutely amazing with kids and March is the perfect time to visit.

why do the threads with “WCICON” in the title seem to be wonky?

North rim of the grand canyon is closed until May due to weather. You could wind around to the south rim. We are hitting up Death Valley National Park before the conference. There’s plenty of interesting things to do in and around Vegas, I think your kids would have a great time.

North Rim is awesome…but closed (and impassable) until mid-May. Zion is great in March. For the casual hiker and visitor, it is probably the ideal time to go. Beat the summer heat and crowds.

That is a great question. Changing thread titles.
