For 1099 income, does it matter if your W2 has your Social security number or an EIN number on it when it comes to contributing to a solo 401k?

    Thank

How do you have a w2 if you are getting 1099 income?

It will be more dependent on the custodian – some will ask for EINs, others are ok with SSNs. Personally and for clients, I try to limit the use of an SSN on forms for any entity other than the IRS.

We needed an ein to open the 401k at fidelity, but didn’t have the ein when filling out the w9.

    Agree with @peds. No.
