As of July 1st, I am now employed with my hospital system. So… for the first time ever, I have to pick my asset allocation based on what they provide.

    It is through Fidelity…

My asset allocation that is in my investment plan is (which is currently in my i401K, Roth, etc.):

    20% Bonds

    10% REITs (not mandatory though)

    10% International

    60% US

Thoughts on what I should make sure my money is in? I have picked some but wanted to pick your brains.

Thanks in advance! (P.S. Would rather not use target date funds, as the expense is higher)

all the percents you’ve pasted don’t matter

can you just post the options with the applicable expenses?

    thats fine.

your 10% REITs may be be more like 15% given its inclusion in TSM. also intl is low for me. but its fine.

please edit your original post. all you should ever need is: name, ticker, ER.

well my guess is going to be the bond index and s&p since you didnt give us percentages of your other accounts. maybe the REITs if your plan is big enough.

the rest of the stocks fill the rIRA and taxable.

There’s sort of a bizarre mix of good stuff and overpriced trash available through that plan. It’d be interesting to know the history of how the various options were added and when.

My 457 is similar.  It has the vanguard 500 and small cap index then a bunch of expensive garbage.  But hey, all you need is one good fund and you can make it work with your other options.

When I find the need for more bonds I will likely be come here for help.  Might be a while before that happens and we will see if the plan changes.

@SLC OB… do you have the option to do the Brokerage Link through Fidelity? My employer also uses Fidelity and offers 16 funds… but you can put 95% of your 401k/403b/457b into Brokerage Link which basically opens up a ton of Fidelity options. You have to keep 5% in the actual employer account to pay for fees. The only thing charged are trading fees, which if you’re indexing and keeping funds for more than 2 months should be zero.
