    I got another one today.

“Take this survey and we will send you $70”  I took it and it was obviously from a drug company asking specifically about prescribing practices for a particular drug I never prescribe.  Also a lot about where I get medical info and what social media I use. (Funny WCI Forum was not a choice :P)

Does anyone actually do these?  Anyone experience any negatives?

Depending on which company it is, it seems like about 90% of the time you’ll get screened out and end up wasting 5 minutes.

I stopped doing them years ago after I realized that I was getting screened out of the majority of them, but only after I answered a bunch of questions for free.

They are not interested in paying you $70. They want to see how far they can ride that horse ( you) for free before dismounting, when you realize you have been tricked into giving a free ride.

Now I get these surveys touting $300-400 per 45 minutes of my time. Yeah, Yeah. It comes via fax, email and phone. I never take the bait.

My wife (IM outpatient) made around 5k off these last year. She does them at odd times like if we are driving across town somewhere together. Started a solo 401(k) which was kind of nice.

It’s not enough to retire on. My experience as a specialist echoes most others on here. 20 questions, screened out. I don’t do them now.

I am sure they are not interested in paying.  I will gladly report back if they do.  I just got $20 for a 5 minute survey.  It took them 4 weeks and it was only an amazon gift card but hey works for me 🙂

I do not plan to go out and look for these.  I get probably 10 a week and delete most. Anything that is a chance to win is right to the trash.  They have to at least pretend to promise payment.  Every once in a while I do one and see what happens.  Just wondering if some other folk do these as well.

I was offered a 5 min survey for $20. I spent 5 min answering fairly detailed questions about my prqctive. Then I was told I didn’t qualify because I hadn’t seen a drug rep in the past 3 days. No joke. Seems like a scam. I’ve deleted every one and unsubscribed since then.

This has been my experience in recent years, too.

Did my first lucrative one of these recently, which was billed as a research study on antivenin, and ended up being a marketing study for Crofab. It paid $240 for 45 minutes (ended up being 60 minutes of my time).

It was actually quite interesting. After all their initial questions to gauge your awareness of the product, they started throwing potential advertising images at me to see which I thought were most effective. I would definitely do something like it again, though I doubt most are as straightforward or pay even close to that much.

I wonder if I am in the beginning of a bait and switch where they will pay me for a few then see how long I will do them for free before noticing?

Years ago I belonged on the panel of Impact network. They provided the PalmPilot with modem and later a Palmphone ( remember those?). It came with free phone minutes and texts and some honorarium.

After a few years when they started complaining that I was seeing the reps from the same companies ( as if I had much choice), I did not renew my commitment to them. They have tried to get me to rejoin many times, but now there is no way I will spend so much time for so little return on investment.

I do them between cases. I only do min $2/min unless under 15mins.

Probably a couple thousand $ per year.

If you're ever having a bad day, just remember in 1976 Ronald Wayne sold his 10% stake in Apple for $2,300.

Soni have done a few of these over the past few months. Maybe$200 so far this year.
I am sure I need to pay tax on this. Is it just up to me to track and report when I do my taxes next year?

How do you get signed up for these? I might be interested in doing a few in my down time while I am already on the clock.
