How about remove the administrators from the lounge? I go up there looking for food only to see a long line of administrators and nurses in there eating the food. Hard to have any sort of even halfway “doctor only” conversation in there like that.

    Weird.

Our lounge is pretty much only attendings.

When there are admin people there it is 100% them inviting us to have lunch with them and gripe.

Supppsedly the carbonation isn’t good and promotes cavities. Happy to have a dentist chime in and call BS.

Keep it a “Doctors” Lounge. We have a great lounge with good food, great ambience but the motherlode are the 8 desktops with M-modal dictation and mic on there. Those are sweet with lots of deskspace. But I can never find a free station since the hospital NPs are always on them. I understand they need to work too, but it became such an issue that we had to get a desktop marked as “PHYSICIAN ONLY” just so that we could actually use the dictation software. It’s so bad now that I actually don’t even bother to look anymore. Grab my lunch and take it to the office (5 min away) and dictate hospital notes offsite from my laptop with Dragon. Nothing against NPs, but they outnumber physicians 2:1 in our lounge and so it’s a matter of limited resources.

I would also start by making it physician only. Ie no midlevels and no admin

No MSNBC, no Fox News, settle it in Smash?  Sounds like a plan!

Since you asked. Yes, the CO2/carbonic acid does make it less preferable to still water, but the saliva will quickly neutralize after you stop drinking. You could drink far more harmful beverages. Sports drinks and soda, for example, have a lower pH in addition to sugars. The acidogenic bacteria in the mouth rapidly metabolize the sugars, leading to a prolonged (20 minutes or so) period of reduced pH during which the enamel can become demineralized.

In short: enjoy your fancy water in the doctors lounge.
