  • How to Use the Coronavirus Relief Bill for Paid Sick leave for my Legally-Paid Nanny?

We pay our nanny legally with payroll. Her pay is variable based on how much she works each pay period but generally she has $900-$1000 take home pay every 2 weeks. With COVID, our ability to pay her may go down for a bit, and if my wife stops working for a bit which may happen soon, then we'd be squeezed further.

The relief bill passed by congress does provide paid sick leave for 2 weeks for parents whose kids were forced to stay home from school. This is the case for my nanny. Can we claim the credit for paid sick leave for our nanny since her kids are home at school? how does this work since the number of hours we pay her are variable...what amount would we use for "paid sick leave"?

I know the law just passed and things to be figured out still. But want to get a head start on this.
