    What's the general rule regarding which order of shares to sell when withdrawing from a taxable account? Let's say you need to withdraw $5k for whatever reason

    Seems like the order would be to first sell any shares that are at a loss (even if held < 1 year), then go LIFO for shares held >1 year (so you pay LTCG). Is this the correct strategy? Thanks!

    your lots should be set up with specID.
    always a loss first. except when you are spending it, you are locking in losses....
    then STCG to offset losses.
    then LTCG (if no losses)
